John 1:4 Beloved believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God; because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

I don’t know how many times I’ve read this scripture. Probably over fifty times. “Try the spirt by the spirit”. In this day and time it is wise to listen and study this scripture. We often wonder why people change on us and why we meet representatives instead of the real person in our relationships.

It’s because the enemy is cunning and sly and it can deceive the most elite of the spirts. We should not be upset that we were fooled and bamboozled. God says we should be evenly yoked when we are in relationships and marriages. This is important because being on one accord gives couples the opportunity to pray for one another, pray over one another, fight the enemy together. But if one does not understand or does believe in what you believe, the enemy has an opportunity to attack the weaker vessel.

Now I want you to be careful not to allow yourself to be sad or angry that you have found yourself in a relationship like this. Remember, I said, the enemy is very cunning. You may never see them coming until the enemy has already shown up on the scene.

The enemy can enter a relationship by way of sin. Sinning against God or His covenant, alcohol and drug use can also allow the enemy to enter a relationship. All drugs are a spirit and when that spirit enters through smoking, drinking, inhalation or intravenously, the enemy becomes stronger and stronger and before long, your loved one no longer has control of anything.

For this excerpt I will use marriage as the relationship. Marriage does not start until after the wedding is over. I don’t care how much you are in love, marriage comes with some rough patches. I don’t care how long we have known or loved our spouse; marriage is work. If we want the marriage bad enough, it is worth the fight. But in order to fight, there should be two people in the ring. If one is not willing to fight, it is good to retreat and move on.

We have 2 people. They marry and start their lives. Years go by and there start to be cracks in the foundation. Try the spirit by the spirt. And son the foundation falters and falls apart. But it was more than cracks that made the marriage fall apart. One stepped out of the marriage, betrayed the covenant made to God. Beloved believe not every spirt. Because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

At first the change will be subtle. The attitude changes. The texts and phone calls become exceedingly rare. The phone is placed on Dot Not Disturb, minimal misunderstandings become full blown arguments.  The mental and verbal abuse starts. If you are in tune with your spirit and you are child of the King of Kings, you will recognize that the person you thought you knew is no longer in the room. Only a shell of them exist. Even their demeanor changes. Always angry, always argumentative, no longer want to shower and take care of themselves. You can smell the spirt, it stinks!

Try the spirt by the spirt! Beloved believe not every spirt, but try the spirts whether they are of God because many false prophets are gone out into the world. They are of the world, therefore speak they of the world and world hears them.
