Push past the urge to stay in an uncomfortable situation because it feels comfortable. Nothing is more distressing than to be somewhere you do not want to be. Moving on in your life doing NOTHING you want or wanted to do for the sake of feeling comfortable and avoiding conflicts.
Healing involves making hard choices about yourselves and those who have caused you pain. You can either stay in that pain and remain uncomfortable or you can move on with your life and use the pain as a learning experience.
If you find yourself “fearful of confrontation, compromising to avoid conflict, making decisions based on pleasing others and allowing people to control your life, know that you are giving up all your authority to someone else.” These are the words of John Bevere. This excerpt reminded me of how we stay in situations that are uncomfortable and it is for the reasons above.
Nothing is worth the sacrifice of your physical or mental health. Our life is too precious to go through it unhinged and non-productive. You only die once, but you live every day and every day you must strive to make your life better for you and those who are depending on you.
When I started my healing process. I was scared out of my mind. I wondered who would take care of my children while I entered treatment? Is there going to be enough money on partial disability checks? How are my children and co-workers going to look at me when I return to the work force? All those questions going into my healing did not hinder or negate the fact that I still needed healing.
The night before I entered treatment. I prayed and asked God to take care of my children and my finances so that I could be the person and woman He wanted me to be. I told Him I was scared and unsure of everything in my life, but I could not say no to the help offered to me. I had to confront all my demons. I could not compromise any more. The only person I wanted to please, was God. The only person I wanted to control my life was God. But I could not do it unless I left the uncomfortable because it felt comfortable.
Move on and get the healing you desire. If no one will go with you and help you, God will! God is always available to you and for you. He can and will walk you through the process of your healing. He did not give us the spirit of fear but of a sound mind.
